Race Introduction
Join the 2026 Hong Kong SUP Long Distance Race — an official championship event organised by the Hong Kong, China Surf and Standup Paddle Association, Hong Kong’s national governing body for stand-up paddleboarding. On Sunday, 28 June 2026, paddlers from across the city will line up at Sha Ha, Sai Kung for one of the year’s signature races.
The 18 km course starts and finishes at Sha Ha Beach, and loops right around Kau Sai Chau — the largest island off the Sai Kung Peninsula and a featured island of the UNESCO Global Geopark of Hong Kong. Paddlers follow its full, largely undeveloped coastline entirely from the water: past Hong Kong’s only public golf course on the northern shore; around the southern tip, where the historic Kau Sai fishing village and its 19th-century Hung Shing Temple — a restoration honoured with a UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Award — look out over the sea; and along the rugged north-western shore, where a prehistoric rock carving, one of the island’s two declared monuments, lies all but unreachable except by sea. Few cities in the world let you race a championship event through a UN-recognised natural wonder.
Whether you’re chasing a podium finish, building your endurance, or paddling your first official race — this is your stage. Every finisher takes home:
- An official race jersey assigned by the Association
- A finisher medal
- Annual ranking points that count toward the Association’s year-end standings
- The chance to race alongside Hong Kong’s strongest paddlers in a stunning, UN-recognised natural setting
Six categories make sure there’s a start line for everyone — Men’s & Women’s Open (no age limit), Adult (35 or above), and Youth (8–17).
Registration closes Wednesday, 17 June 2026 — secure your spot, train hard, and prepare for an exceptional day of racing.
