Children’s SUP Advanced Training Camp

The Hong Kong, China Surf and Standup Paddle Association offers this Children’s SUP course in Hong Kong for eight- to twelve-year-olds who hold a Beginner certificate. By starting formal certification training early, young paddlers enter their teenage years already advancing through the progression pathway toward Silver and Gold levels. Over four consecutive days, participants will develop open-water competence and qualify for the Intermediate Bronze credential after passing the day-four 2km timed assessment.

- Swim Requirement: 25 m unassisted; must hold the Association’s SUP Beginner certificate

- Price Includes: SUP equipment (board, paddle, leash), safety gear, instructor, and the digital SUP Intermediate Bronze certificate (subject to passing the day-4 assessment)

Four-Day Itinerary
(Subject to change due to weather or operational factors)
- Day 1 — Technique reinforcement and balance development: review of correct paddling posture, core engagement, and stroke variants; board-balance drills (single-leg, squat, turn); straight-line paddling and directional control on the water.
- Day 2 — Endurance and long-distance paddling: extended continuous-paddle practice; efficient stroke technique and breath control; foundational crosswind and headwind paddling drills.
- Day 3 — Turning skills and manoeuvring: foundational and advanced turning (sweep, cross-step, pivot, 360°); sideslip, evasive manoeuvres, and S-line drills; on-board rescue technique.
- Day 4 — 2 km timed assessment: review of preceding days; 2 km timed assessment (to be completed within 45 minutes). Passing the assessment is required for certificate issuance.

What do I need to bring?
- Must bring: Water sports shoes that cover your toes, swimwear, extra clothing, hat, sunscreen, dry bag and drinking water of 750ml or more.
- You are also suggested to bring sunglasses (with a floating belt), put on sunscreen and insect repellent before the event. You’ll also need dry clothes for changing after the event.
- To start the event on time, please kindly change your clothes and settle your personal belongings in advance.
